Buddy Murphy was one of the many names released by WWE on June 2, and he is also one of the names many expect to sign for a top promotion once his non-compete clause expires in September 2021.
While he was given small opportunities to shine on WWE’s main roster, the general consensus is that Murphy, like so many others in WWE, were wasted by the company and not allowed to fulfil their full potentials.
The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that there is interest in signing Murphy from both IMPACT and AEW, but it isn’t clear how far this interest has gone, or whether there have been discussions between the two parties.
Murphy’s return to the ring has already been announced, and it will be against a current AEW star in the form of Brian Cage. The match will likely take place on September 18 at Battleground Championship Wrestling’s Philadelphia show.
