An update on two current WWE championship titles that were potentially set to be vacated due to an injury to the champion.
On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss made the latest defence of the Women’s Tag Team Championship, defeating NXT’s Sol Ruca and Zaria.
Charlotte and Alexa would end up picking up the win in the match to retain the titles, but Sol Ruca didn’t make it out of the match unscathed.
Earlier today, Sol Ruca, who currently reigns as both NXT Women’s North American and WWE Speed Women’s Champion, announced that she would need some time to address the NXT fans following her SmackDown match, with WWE later confirming that she had suffered an injury during the bout.
Sol came to the ring on crutches alongside Zaria and NXT General Manager Ava, and announced that she had suffered a knee injury, and did not know when she would be cleared, but it wouldn’t be in time for Saturday’s Halloween Havoc event, where she was scheduled to face Blake Monroe for her North American Championship.
However, before she was able to vacate the title, Blake came out and demanded she be given the title since Sol couldn’t compete at Halloween Havoc, which led to Zaria stepping to Blake, and nominating herself to defend Sol’s North American Championship in her place at Halloween Havoc.
The status of the WWE Speed Women’s Championship has not yet been confirmed, but we will bring you any updates as they become available.
