Tonight’s June 3 episode of WWE NXT played host to a match with big implications regarding the future of one of the brand’s factions.
In recent weeks, No Quarter Catch Crew Myles Borne has started to pursue his own singles career, which included an NXT Championship match against Oba Femi at Battleground.
After he was unsuccessful in that match, NQCC leader Charlie Dempsey suggested Borne should get back to refocusing on the interests of the group, instead of himself.
However, Borne disagreed and challenged Dempsey to a match, with the stipulation that if Borne wins, Dempsey will allow him to leave the group.
Dempsey accepted on the basis that it would be a “rounds match”, which Borne agreed to.
On tonight’s WWE NXT, the match took place as the other NQCC members – Tavion Heights and Wren Sinclair – were seemingly going 50/50 in terms of switching whose corner they were in.
Borne scored the first fall in the first round, before round two went by without a fall. Then, very early in the third round, Dempsey scored a fall to even things up.
In the fourth round, Borne scored his second fall, meaning he picked up the overall win and earned the right to break away from the NQCC.
In a bit more of an abrupt faction departure, The Culling members Shawn Spears, Brooks Jensen and Niko Vance were backstage planning for Jensen and Vance’s upcoming match.
However, from behind, the group’s fourth member Izzi Dame hit Jensen with a steel chair and declared “he’s out” as she believed he wasn’t fully committed to the group.
Shawn Spears, The Culling’s leader, agreed, and Dame said she’d moved the planned match to next week and it’ll now be Spears and Vance teaming together instead.
