Tyler Bate INJURED!

Tyler Bate INJURED!

It never rains but it pours, and former WWE United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate is the man caught in the torrential downpour. WWE.com, Wrestlezone.com, and Rajah.com are reporting that the Brit has suffered a tweaked knee injury and has not been cleared to compete.

After reports that he had fallen out favour with WWE management, the results being a loss to Roderick Strong and TJP in the quest for WWE UK and Cruiserweight Championship gold respectively, this latest blow is particularly devastating because it means Moustache Mountain have had to withdraw from the 2018 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Originally scheduled to defeat the team of Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, Tyler Bate and Trent Seven will be replaced in the tournament by the thrown together team of Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong, who if you haven’t already heard, go all the way to the final to draw with the Authors of Pain. Along with the Undisputed Era, both teams will compete in a triple threat tag team match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7, for both the Dusty Rhodes trophy and the NXT Tag Team Championships.

At time of writing, there is very little information available on the injury meaning it could all be a work. That, however, is highly unlikely when it would have been much more beneficial to incorporate the ailment into the team’s journey to the finals, giving them an underdog story for a feel good payoff. Unfortunately, this looks to be 100% legitimate.

It is a major setback for Tyler Bate. If the booking of his replacements is to be believed, he would have been involved in a major title match on a massive stage for the first time in nearly a year. Out of action, seemingly out of the WWE United Kingdom Championship picture, and low on the company’s priority list, it’s hard to see where Bate fits into the plan going forward.
