UFC Press Conference Cancelled After Fight Breaks Out Backstage UFC

Pandemonium backstage before a UFC press conference led to the entire event getting scrapped for safety reasons.

In a swerve from all the recent coverage of the melee backstage at AEW All Out, it seems another professional fighting promotion has had utter chaos erupt backstage.

This time we aren’t talking about the backstage fracas after AEW All Out or even anywhere else in professional wrestling, rather the press conference ahead of UFC 279.

With journalist Ariel Helwani on the ground getting the scoop, there is plenty of information about there already about the ins and outs of the fight.

However, the general consensus was that despite Dana White reporting there were over 30 security guards on hand, it wasn’t going to be enough to prevent all out chaos at the conference.

After separate incidents involving Khamzat Chimaev, Nate Diaz and Kevin Holland broke out backstage, the press conference was scrapped entirely.

Dana White instead briefly addressed the media and noted that primarily due to concerns for safety, the press conference would not happen.

Just like another backstage brawl, speculative reports from sources on both sides are already floating about on Twitter about punches, kicks and thrown water bottles.

No word on any specific biting incidents nor dogs involved in this backstage melee however.

UFC 279 is set to air on pay-per-view on September 10, 2023.
