UFC Star Reveals Triple H Talks Regarding WWE Transition

UFC Star Reveals Triple H Talks Regarding WWE Transition WWE/UFC

A notable UFC fighter has expressed interest in transitioning into a career in WWE, revealing talks with Triple H.

Ever since WWE and UFC merged together to form TKO in September 2023, cross-promotion between the two companies has become a fairly normal occurrence – with stars from WWE occasionally being shown in attendance at UFC events and vice versa.

One of the most notable UFC to WWE crossover appearances following the TKO merger was Lightweight fighter Michael Chandler, with the 39-year-old even cutting a promo live on Raw on February 19, 2024, calling out Conor McGregor.

Speaking to The Schmo, Chandler expressed his interest in making the jump to WWE in the future:

“I was talking to Triple H about my WWE contract, so we’re trying to make that happen.

“He knows I’m a fan of WWE and him, and the brand. He’s obviously a fan of what I bring to the table from an entertainment standpoint, what I can do on the microphone.

“It’s always fun conversations, who knows if anything is ever going to happen, but he knows I want that door to be open and I think he wants that door to be open too. WWE seems like a really cool transition.”

When discussing the potential move Chandler said he’s be keen to portray a heel on WWE TV, with perennial babyface Rey Mysterio being his dream opponent.

Chandler continued:

“I know it’s a little bit old school, but Rey Mysterio Jr would be freaking fun. I know he’s still getting after it, still has it. That would be a really, really fun one. It might be a little bit too acrobatic for me, I don’t want to start with the acrobats right away, but give me a little bit of training and I’ll be doing double backflips and landing on people.

“I would (try to pull his mask off), that would always be the goal, because I’m going to be the heel. I would go in there and absolutely eff everybody up.

“I would go out there and show my wrestling background, my fighting background is superior to every single one of these guys. I’d go in there and absolutely wreck shop. I would probably turn the entire organisation on its head.

“Everybody would hate me because Triple H is going to love me. It’s just like the UFC, Dana (White) and Hunter and all these guys love me, why? Because I go out, I pour my full self into the octagon, rip off a promo, do a backflip draped in the stars and bars, that’s why people don’t like me, it’s called jealousy.”

After his planned June 2024 fight with Conor McGregor was canceled due to an injury to the Irishman, Chandler instead fought Charles Oliveira in November but lost by unanimous decision. He would then follow up that defeat up with another loss, this time to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 in April.

We will provide updates on Chandler’s potential future in WWE if more news becomes available.
