UFC Star Sam Alvey Says He Would Quit MMA If He Received WWE Offer

UFC veteran Sam Alvey has revealed that he’d retire from MMA if he received an offer from WWE.

Speaking with Inside The Ropes, Alvey stated that he’d accept a WWE try-out in a heartbeat, noting that he was a wrestling fan during the attitude era.

Alvey noted that it’s hard for him to watch wrestling live, as he often fights at night, but he tries to keep up with pay-per-views, or ‘premium live events’, as they’re now called.

Alvey said:

“I’ve always said the WWE is the one thing that would get me to quit fighting is if they were to call. I absolutely would [love to try out for them]. I mean, in a heartbeat. I love the UFC and I hope to spend the rest of my career fighting because there’s few things I like more. But if I had the opportunity to perform on the wrestling stage, I would do it in a heartbeat.

“I was the Attitude Era. So I mean, everyone loves Stone Cold. Everyone loves… I mean, The Rock’s The People’s Champ. I love the Hardy Boyz. Y2J, Chris Jericho. I always loved him. I remember when they first brought him out. I was hooked with Chris Jericho right off the bat.

“I try and keep up with the pay-per-views. WWE is on the Peacock now, so I think I’m going to just buy the Peacock. I’m going to watch as much as I can when I can, and I really want my kids to get into it. I’ve always said the WWE is the one thing that would get me to quit fighting is if they were to call.”

A number of current WWE competitors were accomplished MMA stars before stepping into the squared circle, including Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville and Matt Riddle. Former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar had a successful run in UFC before returning to WWE in 2012, winning the UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2008.

Lesnar and Rousey were both victorious during last weekend’s WWE Royal Rumble event, winning their respective Rumble matches. Check out our list of Royal Rumble 2022 records and stats at this link.
