Update On Major AEW Collision Plans & ‘Huge’ CM Punk Match

Update On Major AEW Collision Plans & ‘Huge’ CM Punk Match AEW

UPDATE: A further major update on AEW’s media rights deal with Warner Bros Discovery can be found at this link.

The next few months are seemingly set to be huge for All Elite Wrestling, with the impending debut of the rumoured AEW Collision show, which will feature the return of CM Punk.

The announcement of Collision is reportedly set for next week’s WBD upfronts, including an extended deal between AEW and WBD.

In a update from Fightful Select (subscription required), there are already ‘major plans’ in place for the Collision show, including a ‘marquee’ match.

In regards to Punk, he has reportedly been pushing for a ‘huge’ match early on in his return, with the program against Chris Jericho being discussed, but Punk has reportedly pushed for another return opponent out of the gate.

As for the future of Rampage, Fightful notes that it will become more resembling what WWE Heat used to be, with many indie talents more likely to be given opportunities on Ring of Honor television.

AEW content is seemingly set to be exclusively hosted on WBD platforms, with that not including ROH, but Fightful have not heard that an entirely new deal has been reached for AEW programming as of yet.

Those that Fightful spoke to have said that Collision will be on WBD in a prime time spot, and will be a part of a new cash infusion for AEW and an extension of the ongoing partnership between the two sides.

Sources at WBD have long spoken glowingly about the relationship with AEW, with the deal seemingly set for an announcement at next week’s WBD Upfronts.

There are already several Saturday dates set to film Collision, but Fightful was told that the company may book a venue for two straight days, and film Collision on Thursdays when necessary.

In regards to Punk and the Elite being kept apart, Fightful says that they haven’t heard if this has anything to do with keeping them apart, but sources indicated that both sets of talent would appear on Dynamite and Collision when called for.

The brand split is not expected to be ‘hard’, but there are reportedly plans for a fresh roster approach in regards to some significant names.

Several sidelined AEW stars believe they will appear on the show, but they have not outright been told as such yet.

The card for next week’s edition of AEW Dynamite is as follows:

No Holds Barred – Julia Hart vs. Anna Jay

Open House Rules match for the AEW Trios Championship – House of Black (c) vs. Bandido & Best Friends

AEW International Championship – Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Daniel Garcia

Double Jeopardy Match – Claudio Castagnoli vs. Rey Fenix

Steel Cage Match – Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley
