An update has emerged on potential plans for Brock Lesnar to face Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39.
In December, WrestlingNews.co reported that WWE had plans for Lesnar and GUNTHER to clash at the April 1-2 event.
Dave Meltzer later shared what he knew about the situation, stating that the match was ‘far from finalized‘.
Rumors about a potential bout were fuelled by GUNTHER and Lesnar having a brief face off in the 2023 Royal Rumble match.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated that he has been told that Lesnar vs GUNTHER is not the plan for WrestleMania 39.
Meltzer noted that it unclear whether WWE has pencilled in plans for the bout at another event. He also noted that, while WWE has been pushing the Lesnar vs Lashley rivalry hard, he’s unable to confirm whether or not this bout is planned for WrestleMania.
Lesnar made his WWE return on the January 23 edition of Raw, costing Lashley his US Title bout against Austin Theory. The Beast also attacked Lashley on the January 27 episode of SmackDown, before declaring himself for the Royal Rumble match.
During the Rumble, Lashley eliminated Lesnar, before Lesnar flipped out at ringside.
GUNTHER’s WrestleMania 39 plans have potentially been revealed, ahead of the April event.
