It has been several week since the news broke that Dean Ambrose had decided not to renew his WWE contract when it expires in April this year.
Since then, very little has been reported other than WWE itself publishing an article on its website confirming Dean’s decision and wishing him well for the future.
This move by WWE made a lot of people think that the whole thing could be part of a storyline and that Dean isn’t actually leaving when his contract ends. This theory gained some fire last week when adverts appeared for WWE shows in May with Dean’s name on, but these have since been removed.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that he had spoken to his contacts within WWE yesterday (Monday, March 4) and that the situation as of then was that Dean is still very much on his way out, which is perhaps the reason they’ve pulled the trigger on the Shield reunion so soon after Roman Reigns returned.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez suggested that a number of superstars believe that Dean Ambrose will re-sign, and that he is far happier backstage since Roman Reigns returned.
This saga is likely to continue for the next month, with WWE likely doing everything they can to change Dean’s mind.
