Update On Future Of Madison Square Garden Following WWE SmackDown

An update has emerged on the Madison Square Garden arena in New York following WWE’s recent visit to the world-famous venue.

Per FOX 5 New York, Madison Square Garden has now secured a 10 year special permit allowing the venue to continue operating in its current location.

New York City’s Planning Commission recommended this 10 year permit with the understanding that MSG will remain compatible with redevelopment efforts surrounding the nearby train station and transit hub.

The July 7 edition of SmackDown emanated from Madison Square Garden.

Following the taping, it was reported that there has been talk about making the stage for WWE MSG events smaller to allow for a larger capacity for future shows.

There were two major Bloodline segments on last week’s show, with Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa attacking the Usos during the Tribal Court segment, and Jey Uso issuing a challenge to Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Championship.

Also on the show, Grayson Waller made his main roster in-ring debut, losing to Hall of Famer Edge in singles action.
