Update On Incident Involving MJF At AEW Revolution AEW

An update has emerged on an incident involving MJF and a young fan at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view.

At the March 5 event, MJF defended his AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson in a 60 minute ironman match.

During the show, MJF dumped a drink on a child in the crowd, in a move that earned him heat from some fans, and genuine criticism from others.

Sean Ross Sapp took to Twitter shortly after the spot to note that it appeared that the child wasn’t a plant (a talent placed there intentionally for the spot).

Per an update on Fightful Select (subscription required), Amanda Huber from the AEW Community Outreach team sat with the child after the incident, and the fan was invited backstage later on.

It was reiterated in this report that those in the crowd said the fan didn’t appear to be a plant.

It was noted on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that part of the issue some had with the spot was to do with the fact that the drink that MJF took from the mom and threw at the child was tequila, not water.

Tony Khan has addressed the incident, which you can read about at this link.

MJF ultimately retained his gold with a 4-3 ironman win over Danielson in Sudden Death.

The match was tied 3-3 after the 60 minutes expired and it was originally ruled as a draw and that MJF would retain, but it was then announced that Tony Khan had ruled it would instead be going to sudden death overtime, which MJF won after striking Bryan with an oxygen tank.
