Update On Released WWE Star’s Contract Status Amid Return Rumors WWE

Matt Cardona has confirmed his current contract status, amid rumors that he will soon make a WWE return.

A number of stars have returned to the company under the Triple H regime, with Mia Yim most recently making her comeback on Monday’s (November 7) edition of WWE Raw.

Following reports that WWE is interested in rehiring Cardona’s wife Chelsea Green, some have theorised that the couple will rejoin the company together.

It had been questioned whether this was even possible, with some speculating that the former ‘Zack Ryder’ may have some sort of deal in place with IMPACT, NWA, GCW or another promotion he works with.

Speaking with Comicbook.com, Cardona confirmed that he is a free agent, noting:

“I don’t have a contract anywhere. I go anywhere I please. I do whatever I want.

“The version of Matt Cardona in all these different promotions are a lot more uniform now, but there’s still differences in each one, which I think is really, really fun.

“In IMPACT right now, with Brian Myers being the Major Players. But you snap your fingers, we could be the Major Players in GCW.

“We could be the major players in NWA. It’s fun that it’s all uniform now, but different at the same time.”

Cardona was released by WWE during the April 2020 COVID-19 pandemic cuts.

His departure say the end of his almost 15 year run with the company.

Cardona recently praised WWE under the Triple H regime, believing that the company now produces content which is ‘what wrestling should be‘.

The former NWA Worlds Champion has stated that he’d be open to talking with WWE about a potential return, on the condition that he can be ‘Matt Cardona’ in WWE rather than ‘Zack Ryder’.
