Update On Max Dupri’s WWE Future Following Removal From Maximum Male Models WWE

The WWE future of Max Dupri, the former LA Knight, has been brought into question following the July 22 episode of SmackDown.

On the show, the former Sofia Cromwell was introduced as Max’s sister Maxxine Dupri, where she announced the swimwear collection for Maximum Male Models will be showcased next week, with no sign of Max in the segment or the graphic.

A report then came out from Wade Keller of PWTorch that Max Dupri will no longer be a part of the Maximum Male Models act moving forward due to ‘rubbing people the wrong way’.

Fightful Select (subscription required) has provided more information on the change, noting that Max Dupri was unbooked last minute, with people associated with the segment not being given real concrete information on his status as of now. Vince McMahon had taken a particular interest in the Maximum Male Models angle, as it was all his idea. Mace and Mansoor were said to have been on board with the angle, but the former LA Knight had some reservations about some things.

McMahon came to the ring to produce the Maximum Male Models debut segment, which is said to not happen often. McMahon had a distinct vision for how Max Dupri would sound, working with him quite a bit on it, even saying he wanted the character to sound nothing like LA Knight.

When Fightful asked around about Dupri, one source indicated that he ‘ruffled some feathers with a couple of scripts’, in which he had challenged what some of the writers had come up with. Another source indicated that the best thing that could possibly have happened to Max Dupri was Vince retiring, because he still has some supporters in WWE that enjoy his work, hinting that the door wasn’t closed for the decision to be reversed, with numerous people within the company putting over Dupri’s delivery.
