Update On NXT Call-Up’s WWE Character Change WWE

Here’s the latest update on the character change that an NXT star has been undergoing seemingly ahead of a call-up to the WWE main roster.

Several ‘free agents’ were named in the recent WWE Draft has being able to appear on any show, with two from NXT, those being Von Wagner and Xyon Quinn.

Well, we haven’t seen Quinn since then, but we have seen Wagner – not on Raw or SmackDown, but still on NXT TV even after the announcement of his free agent status

We’ve covered recently the character change that Wagner is undergoing, with his manager Mr Stone looking for Wagner to open up to him about his personality, his struggles, his upbringing, etc, so that Stone can get as much out of him as possible.

This included Wagner acknowledging that he’s the son of Beau Beverly (Wayne Bloom) of the Beverly Brothers, and that he “always wanted to be in the WWE”.

Last week, Wagner and Stone were going through a photo album, when Stone stumbled upon a photo of Wagner with what appeared to be stitches in his head as a young child, potentially having some kind of surgery.

However, when he asked Wagner about it, Wagner wouldn’t give him an answer as to what had actually happened.

In the latest update, on last night’s May 9 episode of NXT, Stone once again asked Wagner about the photo, and once again, he didn’t react well.

This time, he took his frustrations out on NXT’s new resident lawyer character Luca Crusifino, as you can see in the video below this article.

So essentially, the mystery of the photo continues, which means there’s no sign of Wagner being moved off NXT TV anytime soon until this plays out.

It’s unclear right now if the direction is actually Stone using this to lead Wagner to better things, or possibly, the idea that we should feel sympathy for Wagner not wanting to open up about his issues, with Stone plotting to use all of the info against him to turn on him at some point.

Either way, it would appear this storyline is set to continue on NXT TV for a while before Wagner actually moves onto being a full-time main roster member despite his apparent draft call-up.

We also don’t know whether this storyline was started a few weeks ago knowing Wagner was going to be called up, or if the timing is an issue and now they just have to finish what they started because those in NXT didn’t actually know he’d be main roster bound yet when they planned it.

Full results from the May 9 NXT were as follows:
