Next month at Full Gear, we are going to see FTR defend their Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks in one of the most highly-anticipated wrestling matches in history. The match has been teased for four years at this point.
While the eventual match between FTR and The Bucks will undeniably be fantastic, many fans feel as if the booking of the feud, especially over the last few weeks, has left a fair bit to be desired. Both teams seem to be heels on TV, which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
However, Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Young Bucks are not going to be playing the heel role for too much longer on TV. The idea is that they are doing heelish things, without actually being full-blown heels:
Right now the idea is that misunderstandings and pressure have them doing heelish things, but they aren’t really heels.
It’s certainly good to hear that AEW is not planning on fully turning The Young Bucks into heels. The story makes more sense with The Bucks as the babyfaces, and FTR as the antagonist champions ahead of Full Gear.
How do you feel about how AEW has booked the FTR and Young Bucks story over the last few weeks? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
