Zachary Madsen, the man who attacked Bret Hart at the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, is due back in court on July 9.
25-year old Madsen was scheduled to appear in Kings Criminal Court on May 28 but his lawyer asked for their second continuance of the case.
He was charged with two counts of 3rd degree assault and trespassing and faces up to a year in prison for each of the assault charges.
For those who aren’t aware, Madsen rushed the ring during Bret Hart’s Hall of Fame acceptance speech before dragging Hart to the ground. He was quickly tackled to the ground himself by several WWE stars and Ronda Rousey’s husband Travis Browne.
At the time, WWE released the following brief statement:
“An over-exuberant fan surpassed our security at ringside and made his way briefly into the ring. The individual has been turned over to the proper authorities.”
Not only is Madsen due in court for attacking Bret Hart, but he’s also set to appear in court on June 17 on stalking charges after violating a protection order and stalking local MMA fighter Haris Talundzic.
We will be bringing you further information once Madsen has appeared in court, so stay tuned.
