It was reported yesterday that UFC President Dana White believes Brock Lesnar will return to the octagon to face Daniel Cormier. In a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Lesnar’s future with both promotions was discussed.
The current belief is that once the ‘Beast’s contract is up following the next Saudi Arabia show on May 3, 2019, as reported by Rajah.com, he will play the two companies against each other to obtain the best possible deal.
This has happened already in the past. Whenever Lesnar has reached the end of his contract in the last two years, he has received an offer from UFC and asked Vince McMahon if he will match it. As you can probably tell by now, he always has.
That is not to say that this time won’t be different. Lesnar’s body clock is slowly ticking on and a fight in the UFC is a much higher priority than a match in WWE. There is also no reason Lesnar wouldn’t return to WWE following a fight with Cormier.
What’s interesting, however, is that WWE is currently fighting mass assumption that their talent does not want to be there. Several names have left in dramatic fashion over the past few years while others have asked for their release only to be told no.
Would Vince simply let his current Universal Champion walk out the door?
