There is a new update on Kenny Omega being pulled from AAA TripleMania XXX next month.
Earlier this week, AAA head booker Konnan revealed that Kenny Omega was removed from the lineup for the upcoming TripleMania XXX event in Mexico City on October 15 due to his AEW suspension.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer disputed that Omega was scheduled for the event.
In a new interview with Wrestling Inc’s Nick Hausman, Konnan finally cleared the air in regards to whether or not the former AEW World Champion was booked for the event.
He said:
“[Omega] has always been very open and honest with me. All of a sudden I was like, do you think you’re going to be able to make Triplemania? Then he said, ‘Well, just ask Tony.’ I did ask Tony. Tony said, ‘Yeah, you can use him, but I’m not going to be doing anything with him that day.’ We never really got it officially locked in, if you will. Then all of a sudden the fight broke out. When I asked him again, I go, ‘Do you think, because of all the bulls*** that happened, you’ll still be able to come to Triplemania?’ He goes, ‘Nah, man, I’ve been suspended, and I can’t.’ So that’s exactly what happened.”
AAA has worked with AEW since the latter promotion’s inception in 2019. Kenny Omega held the AAA Mega Championship for 765 days, before the title was vacated in November 2021, before Omega took time off to undergo multiple surgeries.
FTR currently holds the AAA Tag Team Championships, in addition to the IWGP (NJPW) and ROH World Tag Team Titles.
