Update On Matt Hardy & Rusev WWE Contract Negotiations

Last week on Raw, Matt Hardy was hit with a con-chair-to by fellow veteran Randy Orton. The angle was reportedly set to write him off TV with his contract expiring at the beginning of next month.

However, Matt Hardy was later confirmed for a No Holds Barred match on this week’s Raw against Orton. This led some to speculate that the tag team specialist had decided to re-sign with WWE.

It has now been reported that WWE decided to book a follow-up match between Orton and Hardy as their angle on last week’s show did very well in the ratings.

Dave Meltzer has confirmed on the Wrestling Observer Radio that Matt Hardy has still yet to re-sign with WWE and is expected to leave for AEW at the end of the month.

Another match that has been booked for Raw will see Rusev team with Humberto Carrillo to take on Bobby Lashley and Raw newcomer Angel Garza.

This is Rusev’s first match on WWE TV since the January 20, episode of Raw. It was reported that the former United States Champion had been taken off TV due to a “contract dispute”.

Just like Matt Hardy, Dave Meltzer is reporting on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Rusev has also not yet re-signed his contract with WWE despite being put back on TV.

WWE will likely be throwing a lot of money at Rusev to try and convince him to re-sign with the company. For the latest on this story, stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com.
