A new update has been provided regarding the status of former IMPACT World Champion Tessa Blanchard and the possibility of her joining AEW.
Blanchard was fired from IMPACT in June. She hadn’t been able to travel to shows due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but failed to send in video promos for the promotion to use to build to her return.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that, while everyone recognises how talented Tessa Blanchard is and how valuable she’d be to the women’s division, AEW has made the decision not to pursue her.
Her finish with IMPACT wasn’t the only time that she’s had some kind of disciplinary issue, which may have played into AEW’s decision.
She does of course have the connection with her father Tully being there if AEW management change their mind, which could provide an advantage in terms of bringing her in.
Blanchard hasn’t emerged anywhere since the pandemic started, and there have naturally been rumours that WWE is interested, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
