Shayna Baszler was last seen on WWE TV on the 05/12 episode of Raw where she defeated Natalya in a pretty good submission match. This came after she defeated Nattie in a traditional one-on-one singles bout the week prior.
Following her two losses to Baszler, many were surprised that Nattie was included in the triple-threat match on the following week’s show with Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair instead of Baszler. As such, some speculated that Shayna may be injured.
Fightful Select has put to bed any rumours of an injury, reporting that the former NXT Women’s Champion is “fine” and is not currently on the sidelines with an injury:
“We are told that despite not being on WWE Raw the last couple of weeks, Baszler is fine.”
It was reported that prior to Becky Lynch’s pregnancy, Shayna Baszler was set to win Money in the Bank instead of Asuka, so don’t think that Shayna’s absence from Raw for the last few weeks is a sign of backstage heat, as higher-ups clearly still have plans for her.
Fightful is also reporting that NXT-newcomer Mercedes Martinez, who hasn’t been seen for a number of months now, is also not out with an injury. on the matter, Sean Ross Sapp had the following to say:
“When we asked around about Mercedes Martinez, we’d simply been told that she hasn’t mentioned an injury of late, though she’s been off TV since February of this year. “
For me, both Shayna and Mercedes are probably being kept off of TV right now until Raw and NXT have something more meaningful for them to do. We know that their absences aren’t injury related, and I very much doubt that they are because of any sort of ‘heat’.
