Here’s the latest update of sorts regarding the question as to whether WWE Hall of Famer Sting will have any matches in AEW.
We exclusively reported a couple of weeks ago that Sting was unhappy with how WWE treated him throughout his run with the company, which seemingly had something to do with him not having a cinematic match with the Undertaker.
Speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Sting said:
“I didn’t want to end the way it ended. I was pushing to get a cinema-style match with Undertaker. For probably a litany of reasons, it just wasn’t going to happen. When Tony called and spoke with me, he said, ‘Are you interested in doing cinema-style matches?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I am.’ I’d like to come back and do that and not disappear with my tail between my legs. I don’t have to go out on top, I’d like to go out in a positive light.”
After the AEW Dynamite YouTube post-show, Tony Schiavone said:
“He is a member of the talent roster. I think we’re going to end up seeing him in a match or two. I don’t think you’re going to see Sting wrestle on a regular basis on AEW Dynamite, but you will see him wrestle.”
