Update On WWE Status Of Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler was one of the most heavily pushed and protected stars in NXT history. She was perhaps the best NXT Women’s Champion and her main roster debut was something people talked about for over two years. Then it happened.

Despite a bizarre segment where she bit Becky Lynch, her rise seemed effective. She demolished the competition in the Elimination Chamber and looked set to take the Raw Women’s Championship from Lynch at WrestleMania. Except that didn’t happen. Baszler lost to Lynch and her push has been nonexistent since. Now, we have an update.

Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting that there is nothing wrong with Baszler, she is just not getting booked. The report states that she is not sick or injured and they have been given no reason why she isn’t on television. Baszler was said to have been working closely with Paul Heyman on Raw, however, he was recently dismissed from the role. Whether that has anything to do with her lack of push is unclear.

Given WWE’s less than stellar record of pushing NXT stars on the main roster, this report shouldn’t come as a surprise.
