We have an update on WWE’s plans to run shows with live audiences again when the pandemic quietens down and crowds are permitted.
WWE has held its shows at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida in front of no audience since large gatherings were banned.
WrestleVotes posted an update that the company is still looking to have crowds as soon as it is allowed to, writing:
I’ve asked a source for an update on live events returning. Status quo as of now. The plan remains to return to live audiences when permitted, which then depends on each state. Still a tricky situation. I wouldn’t hold my breathe for anything prior to July.
WWE’s next major pay-per-view event is SummerSlam, which is set for 23 August at the Boston Globe, but even that has been said to look unlikely. There’s also Backlash on 14 June, then Extreme Rules on 19 July.
The truth is, no-one can really predict when the coronavirus pandemic will die down and when we’ll be free to meet in large gatherings again, so it’s very much a case of playing it by ear, but WWE is clearly eager to get butts back in seats in big arenas.
