There has been a new update providing further details on AEW’s reasoning and creative plans motivating FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) dropping the AEW Tag Team Championships on the October 7 edition of Collision.
In what was a genuine surprise of a result to many, FTR dropped their AEW Tag Titles to Big Bill & Ricky Starks last week, in a contest that lasted under five minutes.
There had been rumors that the match and result played out the way it did due to an injury to Cash Wheeler, but it appears that may not be the case.
According to PWInsider, the title change was “part of a creative plan, nothing more”.
Dave Meltzer also stated the same thing on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, that it was just a storyline decision.
None of the mentioned teams appeared on last night’s Title Tuesday edition of Dynamite, so one would expect some sort of follow up on the October 14 AEW Collision.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
