AEW
The latest update has emerged on the relationship between AEW’s CM Punk and ‘The Elite’ (Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, and Adam Page).
It can be argued that AEW is still reeling from the effects of what transpired after All Out last September, as CM Punk embarked on a verbal tirade against Colt Cabana, AEW’s EVPs (Omega and the Bucks), and Page.
This stemmed from Punk believing the EVPs had leaked a story about Punk preventing Cabana from being involved with AEW since his debut, and Page attempting to reference the real-life backstage tensions on TV, which Punk didn’t know he was going to do.
With Punk being out due to injury after All Out he wouldn’t have been a factor in TV plans since then anyway, but as he continues to recover from that injury, AEW CEO Tony Khan is going to have a decision to make soon about whether to bring Punk back.
You’d think a step in the right direction would be at least something of a reconciliation between the parties, but it doesn’t sound like any moves have been made in that direction yet.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio today, Dave Meltzer said:
“A lot of damage done, there’s a lot of mending of fences that needs to be done, and there’s been no mending of fences. At all.
“It’s a big situation, because Punk could be back in two months, then there’s a decision. That’s gonna be a big story, how that goes down, or doesn’t go down.”
