There is a new update on whether Warner Bros. Discovery believes AEW will be renewed.
Last week, All Elite Wrestling started filming footage for an upcoming television project with Warner Bros. Discovery.
This announcement bodes well for those wanting a television rights contract for the fledging promotion come the end of 2023 when negotiations begin.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update on the situation, noting that one Warner Bros. Discovery long-time employee said that they’d be shocked if AEW was not offered a renewal as well as a significant increase on their rights fee deals.
The report also notes that AEW and WBD have been extremely collaborative and open to input from one another.
The source also indicates that 2022 has been a huge rebound year for interest in wrestling across the board and that it came at the perfect time for both AEW and WWE.
As previously mentioned, a recent report has indicated that Warner Bros. Discovery wants a new long-term deal with All Elite Wrestling.
