An update has emerged on whether WWE has been in contact with CM Punk or Ace Steel following the recent AEW investigation.
Following their alleged involvement in the post-All Out backstage altercation, it appears that we’ve likely seen the last of CM Punk and Ace Steel in AEW. While Steel has actually been released, Punk has reportedly been in talks with the company over a potential contract buyout.
There has been speculation that both stars could ultimately join WWE following AEW departures. Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been no communication between WWE and Punk or Steel in the last few days.
Meltzer wrote:
“As for other updates, as of the last word we have, there had been no communication between WWE with either Punk or Steel as of several days ago. Legally there still couldn’t be with Punk, since he is still under contract to AEW. There is no indication one way or the other of Paul Levesque or Nick Khan’s feelings on this matter, as it is very tricky for obvious reasons.”
Punk notably walked out on WWE after the 2014 Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Steel worked for WWE more recently , working as a Performance Center coach from 2019 up to his January 2022 release.
