An update has emerged on plans for the main event segment on WrestleMania 38 Saturday, on April 2.
It was recently reported that the Kevin Owens vs Stone Cold Steve Austin confrontation was penciled in to close the first night of WrestleMania 38. Owens has refered to the upcoming segment as the main event on several occasions.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, as of this week, Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship was scheduled to headline the show.
Noting that the only lock for WrestleMania 38 as of writing was the Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar bout, Meltzer noted:
“There were reports this week that the Austin/Owens segment would end the show. According to those in WWE, as of midweek, Flair vs. Rousey was scheduled to close the show but it was also noted that match order changes frequently and will continue to change until the day of the show.
“The only thing locked from the start has been Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar closing the Sunday show.”
Stone Cold Steve Austin has confirmed that he’s getting into ‘in ring shape’ for WrestleMania 38, prompting many to speculate that Austin will be involved in an extended brawl, or return match.
Reports have also noted that Cody Rhodes is set to face Seth Rollins on WrestleMania 38 Sunday (April 3). Rollins addressed these reports live on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.
