Following Piper Niven not being cleared to compete on this week’s Monday Night Raw (September 4), concerns from fans have once again been raised for the future of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, which has had more than its fair share of bad luck attached.

However, a new update may provide some much needed respite from those fears as the details of Niven’s absence has been clarified.

According to Fightful Select‘s WWE sources, despite Niven’s absence, there are no plans to vacate the Women’s Tag Team Championship or anything of that nature.

The report also reveals that the word backstage within WWE is that Niven is dealing with a “short term illness” of some description and the hope is she’ll only miss one or two weeks of action.

Last month, Green and Niven were paired together as new champions after Green’s former partner Sonya Deville tor her ACL in a match on the July 28 edition of SmackDown.

In an attempt to prevent the ‘curse’ of the Women’s Tag Title befalling them in their reign, Green and Niven even went to the effort to cleanse the titles in a video posted to social media.

Despite Niven’s absence on Raw, Green was busy herself as she took on Raquel Rodriguez, who was fresh off failing to capture the WWE Women’s World Championship from Rhea Ripley at Payback.

Unfortunately for Green, Rodriguez picked up a pretty quick win and announced a rematch with Ripley for next week.
