Initial USA Network Reaction To NXT 2.0 Reboot

Initial USA Network Reaction To NXT 2.0 Reboot

The initial reaction of USA Network to the NXT reboot that took place in 2021 has been revealed.

Ahead of the premiere of NXT 2.0 in September 2021, reports emerged that there were individuals within USA Network were unhappy that shows in the lead-up to the revamp were being taped, with a source reportedly telling Andrew Zarian that ‘a taped show is not what we paid for’.

This led many to speculate over the network’s reaction to NXT 2.0, which focused on developing younger stars, rather than the veteran wrestlers who were being showcased on the version of NXT that USA picked up in 2019.

During a Fightful Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that USA initially liked the changes made to NXT. Noting that the network’s opinions may have changed in the months since, Sapp said:

“Initially, I heard they liked the changes. It hasn’t made a big difference as far as viewership goes. But I was told that they enjoyed it, at least initially. I don’t know how they feel since.”
