It was reported at the end of last week by Fightful Select that not only had Vince McMahon been the main reason behind the New Day splitting up in the WWE Draft in 2020, but he also no longer wanted the newly reunited team of Kofi Kingston and Big E to be called the New Day anymore.
This report appears to have been confirmed on last Friday night’s episode of SmackDown, which saw Kingston and Big E take on Los Lotharios in a tag team match.
Los Lotharios won the match, and fans were quick to notice that for the second week running, Big E and Kofi were not referred to as “The New Day”.
It isn’t yet clear why Vince, who is reportedly “adamant” about removing “New Day” from SmackDown’s dictionary, has made this decision, but then this is Vince McMahon.
Everything could change once Xavier Woods is back, perhaps Vince doesn’t want them to be the New Day unless they’re a trio?
