While speaking to SK Wrestling, Vince Russo has claimed that Vince McMahon once booked an angle after pressure from Jim Cornette, despite knowing that it would fail at the time.
Jim Cornette was the manager for Jeff Jarrett during the NWA invasion of WWE (then WWF) in 1998. They were joined by Bart Gunn and Bob Holly to form the New Midnight Express. Russo has claimed that McMahon was well aware the angles would fail:
“That was another rib, bro. That was another rib where Cornette would sit in the meetings and talk about Midnight and Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and all that stuff, and Vince was like, ‘Okay, fine, we’ll put that out there and it’ll fall flat on its face.’ That’s how a lot of it works. There’s always a reason for everything, bro.”
This comes after it was also revealed, once again by Vince Russo, that Vince McMahon booked the Chainsaw Charlie character as another “rib” on Jim Cornette.
Speaking of Jim Cornette, the controversial wrestling figure, who has always been a big fan of FTR, recently claimed that the AEW tag team embarrassed themselves with one of their recent matches.
