Vince McMahon ‘Loved’ Botch That Caused Title Change In 2019

Former WWE referee Mike Chioda has revealed what Vince McMahon thought about R-Truth accidentally winning the United States Title.

Back in January 2019 on SmackDown, Truth rolled up Shinsuke Nakamura, who was supposed to kick out, but Chioda counted the three before Nakamura could get his shoulders up and the match ended with Truth as the winner.

Speaking with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Chioda said:

“Vince loved it. R-Truth tells me the wrong f**king finish. ‘You said you were only getting schoolboyed once!’ And he was like, ‘Oh, my bad, dawg, I’m sorry, man’. He had the US Title or something, 24-hour title… US Title, I think. So it was kind of funny. I thought I was gonna get a bunch of heat coming back and Vince was like, ‘That was phenomenal, I loved it!’ I’m like, ‘What? Okay, great’.”

Truth’s reign lasted just over a month before Samoa Joe won a four-way match with Truth, Joe, Rey Mysterio and Andrade in early March 2019.

It seems like Vince McMahon woke up on the right side of his bed that day, which was good news for all involved really because the short title reign did help Truth win the hearts of a lot of fans.
