Vince McMahon Reaction To Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch Backstage Altercation

More details have emerged regarding the backstage confrontation between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch after SmackDown on October 22.

The altercation reportedly took place following the Women’s Championship exchange segment, where Flair dropped the Raw gold to the canvas, and Lynch threw the SmackDown Women’s Title at Flair.

Flair had reportedly voiced concerns ahead of the segment about not wanting her title reign to look weak by simply swapping titles in the manner that had been planned. As per TalkSPORT, no one involved was happy about the title switch segment, which had been debated throughout the day.

The report also noted that Flair campaigned to lose clean to Bianca Belair in their Raw Women’s Championship match on the October 18 episode of RAW.

TalkSPORT stated that Vince McMahon was unhappy that Flair left gorilla position – where the incident reportedly took place – without personally talking to him.

In an update, PWInsider reports that there is heat on Flair from certain individuals in WWE for disrespecting Lynch. Some also felt that Flair undermined Sasha Banks, who has been positioned as the top babyface for the Smackdown women’s roster, according to the report. Flair was reportedly very upset following the altercation.

PWInsider stated that there is no heat on Lynch, as it was seen by those within WWE that the confrontation was caused by Lynch being pushed ‘to a boiling point’. The altercation was viewed as Lynch ‘standing her ground and protecting herself after being pushed too far.’

Fightful Select (subscription required) previously reported that Flair was asked to leave the venue before the conclusion of Lynch’s dark match to prevent further issues. As per Bryan Alvarez on Twitter, Flair was escorted from the building by security:

Fightful also revealed the original plans for the Women’s Championship exchange segment.
