The latest update on the Adam Cole saga has come to light on the day his current contract with WWE is set to end and he heads to free agency.
As has been said plenty of times now, Cole’s contract expired in July but he agreed an extension until today in order to finish up his program with Kyle O’Reilly at TakeOver.
Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Cole didn’t have a non-compete clause in the extension so would be free to work anywhere after today.
Meltzer also reports that Vince McMahon “definitely” wants to keep Cole and have him on the WWE main roster.
Cole had a meeting backstage with Vince McMahon at SmackDown recently which was believed to have gone well.
The other major option for Cole would obviously be AEW, and it’s either that or the main roster – it’s been stated over and over at this point that he won’t be staying in NXT.
Meltzer added that people close to Adam Cole have said he hasn’t made a decision yet.
We’ll keep you updated with any more updates on Cole, his status and his next move.
