Vince McMahon forced his way back into WWE back in January of this year, when he elected himself, George Barrios and Michelle Wilson as members of WWE’s board.
McMahon said that his return was done to help orchestrate a sale of the company, which was officially announced the night after WrestleMania 39 this year.
It was announced that WWE had been sold to Endeavor, and would be forming a merger company with the UFC, which Vince is set to be an executive chairman for.
Though McMahon has returned to WWE in some fashion, WWE CEO Nick Khan has said that Vince McMahon was ‘committed’ to the idea of genuinely helping pursue a sale.
Speaking at MoffettNathanson TMT, Khan recalled:
“I said, ‘Hey, just tell me, is this real? Because there’s some scuttlebutt out there that maybe this is just your way to come back into your company.’ Which, again, he would have the right to do, also. And he said, ‘No, I’m committed to it. I give you my word.’”
The new name of the merged company between WWE and UFC has been revealed.
