Vince McMahon Got ‘Real Mad’ At Recent WWE Release

It’s been said that WWE majority owner Vince McMahon got “real mad” at a former star prior to releasing him recently.

Just a number of days ago, WWE announced the release of Steve Cutler, and it later came out that he was fired due to attending a New Year’s Eve party and catching COVID-19.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided some more background on the release, saying:

“So the thing with him – he was the first guy fired from a company for COVID. Him and his girlfriend Deonna Purrazzo both got it several weeks ago, they’re okay now. And I think they both said they were asymptomatic, but they both got it. It’s weird with all the different people who tested positive. I heard Vince just got real mad. But, all these different people tested positive, and he’s fired. And they were at New Year’s Eve parties, but f**k. I don’t wanna say half, but many many people in AEW and many many people in WWE that live in Florida congregated for New Year’s Eve parties. And it’s not a secret, some of them are on social media, most of them were smart enough to not go on social media, but they still went. And should you do that? I think probably not, but people are gonna do what they’re gonna do, much to the frustration of other people who didn’t do it. NFL & NBA players that were violating, and UFC fighters that violate the protocol, they do get fired. So it’s not like this is something that didn’t happen, but in wrestling, nobody else did.”

It is a point of interest that so many other names have been known to have gathered with others in similar situations and not faced the same consequences that Cutler did.

The timing was bad as Cutler and Wesley Blake had only just been brought back to TV as the Knights of the Lone Wolf backing up King Corbin.
