Report: Vince McMahon ‘Firmly Back In Charge’ At WWE Raw After WrestleMania 39 CNBC

Vince McMahon was reportedly “firmly back in charge” at last night’s April 3 WWE Raw after WrestleMania 39 show.

As we covered during the show, there were last-minute changes to plans, and if you were wondering if McMahon was behind those, the answer was yes.

According to PWInsider, there were “a number of late rewrites” to Raw just 15-20 minutes before the show, and McMahon continued making changes during the show as it was happening.

On CNBC yesterday after the announcement of the WWE/UFC deal with Endeavor purchasing WWE, McMahon had stated he would be involved in the high level of creative, but not “in the weeds”.

Not being “in the weeds” is the exact same phrasing he used in 2019 when he installed Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff as Executive Directors of Raw and SmackDown respectively, and we saw how that ended up.

PWInsider states there was “no doubt” that McMahon was “firmly back in charge” of the show last night.

The night was said to have started with Paul Levesque (Triple H) running the show on the headsets, but as the show progressed, McMahon became “more and more involved” and was “directly overseeing the proceedings”.

WWE talent told PWInsider there was a “huge negative shift in morale” when people realized things were going back to the way they were before McMahon left.

The “feeling” was that McMahon will be “overseeing everything again” going forward, but we’ll have to wait and see if that’s how it plays out.

There’s still a possibility that McMahon won’t be at every show going forward, and it only happened last night because he was in LA for WrestleMania weekend and the Endeavor deal announcement. But we’ll have to wait and see.

From the CNBC interview yesterday, it was quite clear to see that Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel – the one person who will be above McMahon in the hierarchy of the new WWE/UFC merged company – is a huge fan of McMahon and is unlikely to stop him from being in charge of WWE if McMahon wants to be.
