Last night on Friday Night Smackdown, Adam Cole defended his NXT Championship against former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan in what was undeniably a cracking TV match.
This was not only the first time a Daniel Bryan vs. Adam Cole match has happened in a WWE/NXT ring, but the first time the two have ever squared off in any wrestling ring.
According to reports, Triple H was very influential backstage for last night’s TV taping, reportedly bringing the idea of an NXT invasion to Vince McMahon.
However, it should be noted that Smackdown was still a ‘Vince show’, and according to Dave Meltzer, it was actually Vince’s idea to have Adam Cole beat Daniel Bryan clean in the main event.

Last night’s show was very well-received by fans, with the NXT invasion of a main roster show being something many people have been fantasy booking for years now.
Triple H invited Raw and Smackdown Superstars to NXT this week, so perhaps we could see another main roster vs. NXT dream match on Wednesday night.
