Over the weekend at the SummerSlam pay-per-view, Dominik Mysterio had his first-ever wrestling match when we went one-on-one with former Universal Champion Seth Rollins.
According to reports following the show, higher-ups backstage, as well as Vince McMahon himself, were “super impressed” with how Rey Mysterio’s son performed in his first match for the company.
Ringside News, who have been on the money with some of their backstage scoops over the last few months, are reporting that Dominik impressed a lot of people with his showing on Sunday night:
“Ringside News has learned that Vince McMahon was “super impressed with Dominick Mysterio” at SummerSlam. This sentiment extended past The Chairman’s opinion, too.
“It was told to us by a member of the creative team close to the situation that “everyone was” impressed by Dominik’s performance. This is a very good sign for him as he just got started in WWE.”
Ringside News founder Steve Carrier then reported the following on his Twitter about what Vince McMahon and people backstage within WWE thought about Dominik’s debut:
“Tons of praise coming out for Dominik Mysterio today. We were told Vince McMahon was “super impressed.” His #SummerSlam debut also impressed practically everyone else backstage. Great start for him in the company.”
Last night on Raw, Dominik teamed with his father Rey Mysterio to take on Murphy and Seth Rollins. This is a match that many people thought was going to be saved for Payback this weekend.
