Vince McMahon Thought He Could Take Frank Shamrock In A Fight

Well, if you have to say something about Vince McMahon, he sure does have a lot of confidence in himself. This can be illustrated in the then 63-year old thinking he could beat a former UFC Champion.

During Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho episode with Court Bauer, Jericho told the story of McMahon thinking he could take Frank Shamrock. This story took place at WrestleMania XXV when Mickey Rourke brought Shamrock as backup in case things went south in his angle with Jericho. Here is the quote detailing the conversation Jericho and McMahon had that day, courtesy of Fightful:

“Vince is down there, we’re going over the punch at the end. Finally, when Mickey leaves with his entourage, I say to him, ‘he brought these guys here to attack me if there was a fight.’ [Vince is] like, ‘those guys?’ He points, he goes, ‘that guy? That guy’s a midget!’ He’s pointing at Shamrock. ‘What’s that midget going to do?! You, me, Finlay, and Malenko will kick their asses!’ I said, ‘well, let me tell you this, Vince. If something breaks out, I’ll take Mickey Rourke and you take the midget.’ He goes, ‘you’re damn right I will.’”

Jericho has told the story before that Rourke thought there was legitimate heat between them after Jericho’s in-character appearance on Larry King Live. It was only after they spoke at WrestleMania that Rourke realized it was all a work.
