Here’s Why Vince McMahon Doesn’t Like WWE Titles Being Called ‘Belts’

R-Truth has explained why Vince McMahon doesn’t like championship titles being referred to as ‘belts’ in WWE.

‘Belt’ is a notable entry on the list of words you won’t hear on WWE TV. Speaking with Brandon Robinson of Bally Sports, R-Truth recalled McMahon arguing that a belt is just something you use ‘to keep your pants up’.

Grateful for his many 24/7 Championship reigns, R-Truth said:

“I mean, I’m an accepting guy. I’ll take ANY belt and take it to the highest of beltstivity (laughs). That’s what I do. Whether if it’s WWE — and it’s not called a belt. It’s called a championship or a title. Vince McMahon says a belt is something you use to keep your pants up. So it’s a championship title, you see what I’m sayin’?

“I would take any of those championship titles because they’re all prestigious titles and it’s an accomplishment. If you win one of the Tag (Team) Titles, it’s an accomplishment. So I think that any one of ‘em I think that you would be honored to have.”

Truth has held the 24/7 Title 53 times since its introduction in 2019. Dana Brooke currently holds the gold, defeating Cedric Alexander for the strap on Raw last week.
