Former WWE Name Discusses Vince McMahon WrestleMania Speculation WWE

Former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz has shared his thoughts on a rumor that Vince McMahon planned to make his WWE return for WrestleMania season.

After Vince McMahon officially stepped away from his WWE chairman and CEO roles in July 2022, he took some time away from the company after announcing his retirement, before returning to the board of directors in January.

Vince is currently serving as the executive chairman of the company, which is now preparing for the biggest wrestling show of the year, WrestleMania 39.

Speaking on the Bill Simmons podcast, Gewirtz noted that he doesn’t believe McMahon planned his return around WrestleMania season.

Sharing his thoughts on the situation, Gewirtz said:

“I can’t imagine. Like, I don’t know, just based on all the stuff that always happened on the fly.

“Like you would come into work and then a bombshell would drop on the creative team.

“Like Paul Heyman and I are arguing with each other one day and then we’re called in to Vince and Stephanie’s office thinking, like, ‘Oh, we’re going to get reamed out for arguing and being unprofessional.’ And then she’s like, ‘Oh, by the way, we’re bringing back Vince, and he’s going to be running the entire creative team.’

“I don’t think it’s that sophisticated or played out. I could see Vince getting whatever advice from his legal team saying, ‘Yeah, now’s the time to come back to negotiate the sale.’

“If you told me he was looking over all the scripts and giving feedback to Triple H and Triple H only, I’d believe it. If you told me, ‘Yeah, he’s under strict, strict orders and self-imposed orders to not interfere and to strictly do it from a business sense,’ I would say, ‘Yeah, okay, I believe that too.’

“I don’t think the planning is that sophisticated to come back during WrestleMania season and have it play out. I think it just happened. My personal opinion is things just happen.

“He’s never cared about like the quote-unquote internet opinion or the gossip and the hearsay. Even if the ‘Triple H era’ is universally praised and what have you, he’s going to think about it the way he thinks about it.”

Gewirtz, who serves as the SVP of Development at The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions company, has shot down a report about The Rock’s WrestleMania 39 status, which you can read about right here.
