Wade Barrett Wants Top Free Agent To Sign With WWE

Wade Barrett Wants Top Free Agent To Sign With WWE WWE

The phrase ‘top free agent’ gets thrown around a lot in the world of wrestling, however, it’s undeniable that former NWA World Champion Nick Aldis fits that bill.

Since departing the NWA in late last year following disagreements over the promotion’s direction, Aldis has naturally been linked with potential moves to both WWE and AEW.

While he currently remains a free agent, he does have at least one fan in WWE who may be intent on seeing Aldis join up with him in Stanford in the future.

Smackdown commentator Wade Barrett recently spoke with METRO, and the topic of fellow-Brit Aldis potentially doing WWE came up, to which Barrett replied:

“I think first of all, he’s a fantastic talker, he’s got a great look, he’s a really good representative for this industry in general, and I love his classic throwback in-ring style,”

“He’s a guy I’ve got a lot of respect for, I think he’ll have success whatever he ends up doing, whether it’s on the independents, whether it’s going back to NWA, or to any other company – or hopefully one day, come over to WWE.

“I think he’s got a lot he can contribute. In terms of supporters, I’m certainly on board as a supporter of Nick Aldis one day coming to WWE.”

Clearly Barrett thinks a lot of Aldis, and while much of the current ‘free agent’ chatter revolves around Jay White and Matt Cardona, perhaps Aldis should be in that conversation too.

So, that begs the question, what is Aldis up to for WrestleMania weekend?

Well, it just so happens he’s going to be in Los Angeles for Wrestlecon, so perhaps Wade may get his wish and see Aldis make his long-awaited WWE debut?

There’s been speculation that Aldis will sign with WWE ever since it was reported that WWE was interested in signing more ‘high quality’ stars, following the announcement that Dragon Lee had joined NXT.

Barrett recently revealed WWE’s plans for the company’s commentary teams moving forward, which you can read more about right here.
