Wade Barrett Signs New Contract With WWE

WWE has officially confirmed that former Intercontinental Champion and King of the Ring Wade Barrett has signed a new contract with the company.

Barrett has signed to be a full-time member of the NXT commentary team. As per Sports Illustrated, the deal is for one year with the option to extend.

WWE.com writes:

Wade Barrett has officially signed with NXT as part of the commentary team.

The former Intercontinental Champion has been part of the announce team in recent weeks alongside Vic Joseph and Beth Phoenix.

As first reported by Sports Illustrated, Barrett will now remain an official member of the announce team. The former King of the Ring returned as a color analyst for the black-and-gold brand after several years away from WWE.

Barrett’s signing follows Mauro Ranallo’s departure from the company as well as Nigel McGuinness being furloughed in April. He’s done commentary for other promotions before, most recently the NWA when he replaced Jim Cornette last year.

WrestleTalk.com will have live coverage of tonight’s NXT, which features two championship matches.
