Wardlow Competed At Blood & Guts With Completely Torn Calf AEW

The inaugural Blood & Guts match in All Elite Wrestling was a major grudge match but Wardlow has now revealed he almost didn’t make it to the match.

On Athletes and the Arts, Wardlow spoke about having competed while injured, sharing a gruesome story.

Describing how he hid a painful injury from AEW medical staff, Wardlow said:

“I’m wrestling year-round with injuries. I got in trouble with Doc [Doc Sampson] one time because I didn’t tell anybody about a torn calf that blew out doing sprints because I was getting prepared for Blood and Guts and I wasn’t going to miss that match for nothing. I hid it and wrestled with a completely torn calf. I have tears in my knee, my shoulders, I’m a mess, but we love it and this is what we do.”

While competing while severely injured is certainly ill advised, the first Blood & Guts match was understandably a can’t miss affair for Wardlow.

He teamed with The Pinnacle consisting at the time of MJF, Shawn Spears and FTR to take on Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle featuring he, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana and Ortiz.

Wardlow will be teaming with his former Pinnacle stablemates, FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) when their trio takes on formidable foes in Jay Lethal and the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabian) at the upcoming AEW pay-per-view, AEW All Out.

AEW All Out is set for Sunday, September 4, 2022 from Chicago, Illinois.
