‘Wepa Up’ Revealed As New Team Name For Damian Priest & R-Truth Following WWE Tag Team Championship Victory

WWE has revealed ‘Wepa Up’ is the new team name for R-Truth and Damian Priest following their WWE Tag Team Championship victory.

The unlikely duo of Damian Priest and R-Truth captured the WWE Tag Team Championship back on the March 20 episode of SmackDown, when they defeated the MFTs to win the titles after interference from the Wyatt Sicks.

Truth had entered the pair into a Tag Team Turmoil match the prior week, coming out on top over Fraxiom, Motor City Machine Guns, Los Garza and the Wyatt Sicks.

Truth and Priest defended their titles last week against The Miz and Kit Wilson, with them retaining the titles after Danhausen cursed referee Dan Engler, leading to him costing Miz and Kit the match.

R-Truth & Damian Priest Are ‘Wepa Up’

Now, it seems as though the official team name for the duo has been revealed, as WWE today released new merchandise for the pair, dubbing them ‘Wepa Up’, as you can see in the image below.

The shirt’s description reads:

Will Damian Priest & R-Truth Defend The WWE Tag Team Championship At WrestleMania 42?

With just 8 days to go before WrestleMania 42, it seems as though this year’s event will pass by without either set of men’s Tag Team Championship being defended on the event.

While Raw’s World Tag Team Champions Austin Theory & Logan Paul of The Vision are set to feature in a six-man tag team match, teaming with IShowSpeed against The Usos and LA Knight, Wepa Up have no obvious opponents for a potential WrestleMania match as of now.

Kit Wilson spoke in a recent interview about how he would want a rematch with the pair alongside The Miz at WrestleMania if he were to make it on the show, but it doesn’t seem like the match will be one that actually takes place.

While one spot does seemingly remain open on WrestleMania 42 night two card, that spot would reportedly go to a match between IYO SKY and Asuka, with that match also having more of a storyline heading into the show, and potentially a sleeper match of the night following both women’s outputs over the last year.
