What Actually Happened Between Eddie Kingston & Sammy Guevara AEW

***UPDATE – Sammy Guevara has commented on the backstage altercation with Eddie Kingston, which you can read here.

Eddie Kingston has been off AEW television for the last few weeks, with him reportedly serving a suspension following a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara.

The altercation was alleged to have occured over Guevara making comments regarding Kingston’s physique, with Kingston reportedly throwing a punch at Guevara.

Fightful Select (subscription required) has now provided more information on the incident. Fightful was told that Kingston was mad because Guevara hadn’t spoken with him or cleared the content for a promo that ended up being edited off of a show. The two had not spoken with each other since the Blood and Guts show, where Kingston threw Sammy off of the top of the cage.

Fightful reports that Kingston asked to work with Sammy, who didn’t have a lot of people asking to work with him, following his feud with Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page.

Those that spoke to Fightful claimed that there were some clear parameters on Sammy Guevara feuds and promos to not mention his ex-fiancee, which Fightful notes has never come up or been pitched anyway. The original plan was for Kingston to win the All Out match. In the edited promo, Sammy referred to Kingston as a ‘fat piece of s**t’, which Kingston took exception to, feeling as if it buried the match if a ‘fat piece of s**t’ beat him.

The crux of the frustration, however, comes from how Sammy followed up with this after being perceived as difficult working with Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page and Sonjay Dutt in the months prior. After that, Kingston had allegedly yelled at Guevara, who smiled at him. Kingston responded by pie facing Guevara. Sammy ended up being incredibly unhappy with this and Kingston was suspended for two weeks.

Kingston has since issued a statement on the suspension, which you can read here.
